THEN NOW

2017

This clock is a conceptual translation of the relationship between Steffie and her granddad. She gave her granddad a bracelet that she also had one herself. By this bracelet they would stay connected. Her granddad served the country when he was her age, he died at the age of 77.

You see this by the separated hour and minute clocks. The smaller piece represents Steffie and is counting minutes. It is as big as her age at that time. This surface is really smooth in contrast to the bigger piece, that one is sandblasted. The rough and bigger piece represents her granddad and is counting hours. It is as big as the age he has reached. The hands almost touch each other, but they would never get back together.
